Two Mothers

Watched National Geographics "Amazing Planet"
Loved how the narrator referred to the Earth as " ...a restless blue planet with a red and violent soul; powered by the molten rock that lies beneath, it explodes, slithers, jerks and sloshes. And sometimes kills" When describing the Earth and its molten magma core.

And so I pictured a volatile indifferent and yet giving Mother Earth and separate from her slower to anger daughter Mother Nature.

 Her hair is molten magma and always flowing, her body is water and the waves, while her limbs are the  metal and rock of her crust. She is the dancing partner of Father Moon, forever waltzing together.

Her hair is the tangle and upward reaching plants that bend to gravity, her body is all wood and bark with moss grown in to her torso, Her ears are where the Fairies inherited theirs from because she is the mother of the trees and plants and the grandmother of the Fey.

A wonderful Poem

I recently encountered a beautiful poem by Hafiz, 

It goes: 

Even after all this time
the sun never says to the earth, "You owe Me."
Look what happens with a love like that,
It lights up the Whole Sky.

And so this was created, through Ruby and Skylark's friendship.

Have some stuff

So I've been sketching again, mostly bleh things but once in a while I get inspired. Mostly about Impure Rubies, since I made it its own blog.
Re-edited (again) the Prologue in honor of it.
Been lurking about tvtropes pages like this one Characterization Tropes and I've been using Flashnote to just jot down everything from call backs to the fourth book and before that I want to embed in the first one, to create a cool Fridge brilliance effect like the Harry Potter series.
Also places to explain and plan out believable relationships between my characters, and to compile various tidbits of info in one neat place. And Q10 to actually start type out something; its Pavlovian or something, the way hearing these click clack noises and the shiing of the return tab make me want to keep writing.

So my friend pulled a big favor on me and lent me her tablet. A night of wild art ensued. Here's some of the works I did in one night.

Ari wanted me to do her original character Koryn:

 

Then I done a Ruby Pose, hated the shirt color so changed it to blue.

 

After that I drew Vitriolic Best Buds *type2*/Adventure Duo/ Back to Back Badasses:

Ruby and Idris.

Both of them show Blue and Orange Morality as well though, Since she's a golem who wants to protect the first person to truly accept everything about her; killing whomever it takes to have the Princess' reincarnations live. (What does she care about those other humans?)

And Idris, who is a demon and prefers the presence of humans to other demons; but has no qualms letting others know he's on top of humanity on the food chain.

First day, actually second.

Well, in my defense I started this on November 1, finished it at 3 in the morning on the second. I've got to be awake in a couple hours for class but hey, the lifeguards are in the pool right next to ours so at least someone will be pretty quick in fishing my unconscious body from the pool right? /horrible joke to make right now after doing this part in Impure Rubies.

I started with the first chapter, but had a scene from way later in my head all day so decided to get that out before it went away.

In preparation I read the Tear Jerker's page on TvTropes for One Piece. (Goddamn You Oda you magnificent Bastard you*sob*) and listened/watched this throughout writing this scene:



I need to be heading to sleep now, all this emoting is exhausting. Ruby's already conked out as well. She'll need a hug, and some spiked tea after she wakes up. (come to think of it I will too.)

Redecorating

X3, Pimped it out with some of my cleaner old pics. I wanted a soft grey with orange earlier today so here it is! Now, to actually get to sleep before dawn.

Getting pumped for Nanowrimo!

Unfortunately I didn't have scanner access, so I decided to keep on plotting my "Impure Rubies" plot. *mwuahaha* While I was at it, also began to clean my super cluttered desk. I was forced to retreat to my bed to draw but now I can see the wood! 
And I took down anything not relating to my first novel, which was pretty much everything, but now I have space to stick luminescent orange notes to. :D 

On the other side of this small desk is where I do my artistic things, I've taken to using a clipboard.

And what I'm now frantically rereading, *all the while laughing to death*, favorite how-to book:

Excerpt from the back of the book: 

"What do you think of my fiction book writing?" the aspiring novelist extorted. 

"Darn," the editor hectored in turn. "I can not publish your novel! It is full of what we in the business call 'really awful writing.'"

"But how shall I absolve this dilemma? I have already read every tome available on how to write well and get published!" The writer tossed his head about, wildly.

"It might help," opined the blonde editor, helpfully, "to ponder how NOT to write a novel, so you might avoid the very thing!"

It makes me laugh and cringe in shame as I see some traits of that in my own writing, so I must be partly masochistic to keep rereading this. I love it though :3

And throughout all of this, I know I'll have the support of Mama Thug Cat. Who is smaller than a sofa cushion, but picks fights with my 200 something pound black Lab. And wins.

Seriously, if your dog is about the size of a housecat, she'll basically eat it alive.

Haha, this is really just a dumping ground for visual progress on my "L33t Drawing Skillz", my original novel "Impure Rubies" and its sequels (Imagine that, five books in the works and not one word written *cry*), and any other subject I wish to gush over in an obsessive manner in a nice, neat blog.


If all goes well, tomorrow I might have access to a scanner (a friend who has taken pity on me) to start hauling in sketches on to this. No tablet, (or color) I'm afraid, since mine is still broken and there is no new one on the horizon for now./stoicmanlytears.
